Shop with a Cop 2009
Thank You from all of us here at the FOP185 to you for 2009 Shop with a Cop Event.
From 1PM to a littel after 3PM on Saturday 12-12-09
The Wal-Mart in Norwalk hosted the FOP #185 first Shop-with-a-cop program.
"14 Uniformed officers from the Sheriff's Dept, Monroeville, Wakeman, Norwalk, Plymouth, Castalia and Milan police departments.
a K-9 and 6 cruisers and a motorcycle were the Cop portion, and 35 kids chosen by the Huron County Board of Education for a little extra help this year were the shoppers.
All children were accompanied by a parent or guardian, and a good time was had by all.
From Chiefs down all the ranks to dispatchers, the officers were touched by the spirit of Christmas and the ability to interact with families in a much different manner than normal.
Money donated by the Lodge, and a large donation from Wal-Mart provided the funds, and the kids were allowed to pick and choose what was needed and wanted this year.
The Lodge hopes to expand this effort next year, with more donations and more Huron County kids being given the chance to "Shop-with-a-cop" "
